During recent years the cultural life in Russia is getting more and more saturated. Theaters are often full, new movies appear regularly, concert hall appear and offer great programmes, to visit art exhibition has become a kind of a sport: you need to be fast to get tickets and to be strong to manage ques. Art exhibitions, including those of classic masters, have become extremely popular.

The situation is dramatically different from 90-s when culture was in a deep decay.

Such development is due partially to sufficient subsidies from the state, partially to the increased level of living of people, who can now afford to spend money not only on food, but on culture as well.

Well all that is great, but does that automatically means that the level of culture is increasing together with popularity? Unfortunately I can not say so 🙁 Unfortunately, as everywhere in the world, the culture is pushed down by increasing dependence  on IT technologies, especially among young people. People read less, think less, know less …

Thus we can see more RENAISSANCE OF INTEREST TO CULTURE instead of RENAISSANCE OF CULTURE.

I hope that sooner or later the first one will transfer itself into the second one, but realize that it is not going to be very soon …
